Public Art

My public art practice is rooted in place, and deeply collaborative. I love to make large scale forms that reveal environmental phenomena, and the beauty and wisdom of natural materials, with attention to craftsmanship, patience, collaboration and joy.

Frequent collaborators include Joshua Lantzy and Laura Miracle, and Transit Studio. Transit Studio is a collective of artist-educators that values joy, wonder, observation and learning through public art. We believe in the power of art and design to explore and celebrate the natural world and our connections to it and each other. We believe in the magic of thoughtful interventions in public space, and hands-on education. We are connected by a love of making and have realized a wide range of public projects: a 3-acre sound sculpture in a rural Wisconsin landscape, multimedia presentations on dark matter, places to sit, learn, time travel and walk on the moon. We seek challenges that engage a specific site/community/context/question, allowing each project to act as a vehicle for cultural and material exploration and revelation.
